I had a dream that a coworker of mine, who is nice to me but mean to some other employees, was trying to kill my grandma and hated her. I have issues with my grandma and dislike her because she is mean to me, but not to the point of murder. He actually really likes her and sucks up to her in real life. So I stopped him and called him out asking why he wants to kill her when he loves her. He answered and said that he loved me not her. Then he took my hand. One of his hands was cold, the other was warm. I thought of responding and reciprocating the words I love you, but ultimately did not.
Dreams can often reflect our subconscious thoughts, feelings, and relationships. In your dream, several interesting themes and symbols are at play.
Coworker as a Symbol: Your coworker represents someone who occupies a dual role in your life—someone who is friendly to you but unkind to others. This duality may symbolize your own perceptions of people and situations, particularly regarding how people can project different faces in various contexts. His desire to harm your grandma, despite his outward affection for her, may reflect your own conflicting feelings about your grandmother and people in general.
Grandmother as a Figure of Authority: Grandmothers often symbolize wisdom, authority, or familial ties. Your issues with your grandma may indicate unresolved feelings or generational conflicts. The fact that your coworker is targeting her in a violent manner could highlight your own frustrations and desires to assert yourself against authority or family expectations.
The Cold and Warm Hand: The juxtaposition of the cold and warm hand is significant. It might symbolize the complexity of his (or your own) emotions—some feelings being cold or detached, while others are warm and affectionate. This contrast could be reflecting your struggles with vulnerability and openness in relationships, perhaps indicating a fear of being hurt or betrayed if you reciprocate feelings.
Love and Ambivalence: His declaration that he loves you, not your grandmother, could represent a desire for connection or intimacy. However, your hesitance to reciprocate might indicate an inner conflict or fear about emotional commitment and relationships in general.
Overall, this dream could suggest a need to navigate your relationships carefully, acknowledging your feelings toward your grandmother while also exploring the dynamics with your coworker. It may also reflect a subconscious exploration of trust, love, and emotional boundaries, prompting you to consider how you express your feelings to those around you.
